Preserving Apples
You can treat homegrown apples in the
steam oven to increase the length of
time for which you can store them.
Once treated, the apples will keep for 5
to 6 months when stored in a dry, cool
and well-ventilated place. This method
is only suitable for apples and not for
other types of fruit.

Blanching
Blanch fruit and vegetables before
freezing them. Blanching helps maintain
the quality of the produce when it is
frozen.
Blanching vegetables also helps them
retain their original color.
Method
Put the prepared vegetables
(cleaned, washed, chopped etc.) into
a perforated cooking pan.
Once blanched, plunge the vegeta-
bles into ice cold water to cool them
down quickly. Drain them well.
