FuelSystem
Thelow-pressureelectricfuelpumpdrawsfuelfromthefueltank
throughthefuellterhousing.Thehousingincludesanelectric
fuelpump,strainer,lter,drainvalve,WaterinFuel(WIF)sensor,
andEngineFuel(EFP)sensor.Ifequipped,anoptionalfuel
heaterelementislocatedinthefuellterhousing.Conditioned
fuelispumpedthroughtheintakemanifoldandcylinderheadto
thefuelinjectors.
TheWIFsensordetectswaterinthefuelsystem.Whena
programmedvalueofwateriscollectedinthefuellterhousing,
theFUELFILTERlampwillilluminate.Thecollectedwatermust
beremovedimmediately.Thewaterisdrainedbyusingthe
drainvalvelocatedonthefuellterhousing.
EngineFeatures
ExhaustAftertreatment(AFT)System
TheexhaustAFTsystemprocessesengineexhausttomeet
tailpipeemissionrequirements.TheAFTsystemtraps
particulatematter(soot)usingaDieselParticulateFilter(DPF).
Thetrappedparticulatematteristhenrenderedtoashby
heatingtheexhaustandinjectingfuelthroughaprocesscalled
regeneration.RegenerationreducesthefrequencyofAFT
systemmaintenancewithoutadverselyaffectingemissions.

ColdAmbientProtection(CAP)
CAPkeepstheenginewarmduringcoldtemperaturesand
mayprovidebetterfueleconomy,increasedoperatorcomfort,
andimprovedengineperformance.Thisfeatureshouldonly
bedisabledforspecializedapplications.Enginedamagemay
occurifCAPisdisabled.
CAPmaintainsenginecoolanttemperaturebyincreasingengine
rpmtoaprogrammedvaluewhenambientairtemperatureis
below0°C(32°F),coolanttemperatureisbelow65°C(149°F),
andenginehasbeenidlingatnoloadforover5minutes.
