Enginecoolantmixturesincludewater,glycol(ethyleneor
propylene),andinhibitors.Conventionalandfullyformulated
coolantsrequireregulartestingofinhibitorlevelstomaintain
safelevelsofprotection.Testingofconventionalcoolant
determineslevelsofnitrite,nitrite/molybdate,andfreeze
pointprotection.Ifnecessary,SupplementalCoolantAdditives
(SCAs)areaddedtoreplenishinhibitors.
Extendedlifecoolantmixtures(waterandethyleneglycol)donot
requireregulartestingofinhibitorlevelsoradditionofSCAs.
