AFTERTREATMENT(AFT)HIGH-SOOTAUTOENGINE
SHUTDOWN
WhenDieselParticulateFilter(DPF)sootlevelishighand
extendedidlingperiodsoccur,theengineperformancewillbe
limited,andifleftuncorrected,theenginemayshutdown.The
DPFindicatorwillashandanalarmwillbeepcontinuously
whiletheignitionison.ThisindicatestheDPFisfulland
engineperformancewillbelimited.Pullthevehiclesafelyoff
theroadwayandstartParkedRegenerationprocesstoprevent
theenginefromstopping.
WhentheDieselParticulateFilterIndicatorexceedslevelthree
andthevehicleisidling,engineperformancewillbeseverely
limited,andaParkedRegenerationwillberequiredtoprevent
engineshutdown.WhenaRegenoccurs,dothefollowing:
•Theoperatormustparkthevehicleandthenperformthe
Regenasrequired.
•FollowtheParkedRegenerationprocesslistedinthe
VehicleOperatorManual.
•IftheParkedRegenerationprocessisignored,theengine
maystoprunning.
•SeeSafetyInformation(page3)forsafetyprecautions.
ENGINEIDLESHUTDOWNTIMER(FEDERAL-OPTIONAL)
GOVERNMENTREGULATION:Stateandlocal
regulationsmaylimitengineidletime.Thevehicle
owneroroperatorisresponsibleforcompliancewith
theseregulations.
TheoptionalIdleShutdownTimer(IST)allowstheEngine
ControlModule(ECM)toshutdowntheengineduringextended
idle.Idletimecanbeprogrammedfrom5-120minutes.The
ECMcanbeprogrammedtodeactivatetheISTwhenthePower
Takeoff(PTO)isactive.
Thirtysecondsbeforeengineshutdown,theIDLESHUTDOWN
indicatorilluminates.Thiscontinuesuntiltheengineshutsdown
orthelowidleshutdowntimerisreset.Theenginemustbeoutof
gearfortheISTtowork.Engineshutdowntimerwilldeactivate
foroneormoreofthefollowingconditions:
