Lock
Focus
lock
can
be
used
to
change
the
composition
after
focusing,
making
it
possible
to
focus
on
a
subject
that
will
not
be
in
the
one
of
three
focus
points
in
the
final
composition.
Selecting
[[
l]
(single
point)
or
~[l~
(dynamic
area)
for
AF-area mode
(!ISS)
is
recommended
when
using
focus
lock
.

Focus can also
be
locked
by
pressing
~~l
instead
of
holding
the
shutter-release
button
down
halfway. Focus
will
lock
when
~~=~
is
pressed
while
the
shutter-release
button
is
pressed halfway. Focus
will
remain
locked
while
~~=~
is
held
down,
even
if
you
later
remove
your
finger
from
the
shutter-release
button.

Position
the
subject
in
the
selected
focus
point
and
press
the shutter-release button
halfway
to
initiate
focus.
Check that the in-focus indicator
(e)
appears
in
the
viewfinder.
Focus
will lock automatically when the in-
focus indicator appears, and remain locked while the
shutter-release button
is
pressed halfway.

lock focus

or continuous-servo autofocus

or when continuous-servo autofocus

selected

lock focus.

Shooting
While
Focus Remains Locked
When focus
is
locked by pressing the shutter-release button halfway,
release
the shutter-release
button only halfway after the shutter
is
released and
press
fully again
to
take the next picture.
Focus
will remain locked between shots. When focus
is
locked by pressing

down
and
press
the shutter-release button
all
the way
down
for each shot.
