HANDBRAKE POWER STEERING
To release:
Pull the lever up slightly, press
button 1 and then lower the lever to
the floor.
The red warning light on the
instrument panel will light up if
you are driving with an incorrectly
released handbrake.
Make sure that the
handbrake is properly
released when driving,
otherwise overheating
may occur.
To apply
Pull upwards, ensure that the
vehicle cannot move.
Depending on the slope
and/or vehicle load, it
may be necessary to pull
up the handbrake at least
two extra notches and engage a
gear (1st or reverse gear) for
vehicles with manual gearboxes
or position P for vehicles with
automatic gearboxes.
Never drive with an inadequately
charged battery.
Variable power assisted
steering
The variable power assisted steering
system is equipped with an
electronic control system which
alters the level of assistance to suit
the vehicle speed.
The steering is lighter for parking
manoeuvres and becomes heavier
as the speed increases.
Operating faults
If the warning light flashes
whentheengineisstarted,turnthe
steering wheel slowly from lock to
lock to reset the system.
Never switch off the
ignition when travelling
downhill, and avoid
doing so in normal
driving (power steering and
brake servo will not function).
