5.5.3 INSPECTION FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONAL EVENTS WITH WING
FOLDING DEVICE
Collision of the spar stub of the outboard wing with an obstacle during taxiing or maneuvering
in the hangar with the outboard wings folded:
• Inspection of the wing ribs for crazing in the area of the screw-on surfaces for the folding
device as well as inspection of the spar stubs and spar stub bolts for visual damage prior
to the next ight.
• Check the complete wing folding device for damage before using in the next time.
Shock loading of the folded wings by taxiing too fast over bump:
• Inspection of the wing ribs for crazing in the area of the screw-on surfaces for the folding
device prior to the next ight.
• Check the riveted joint on the swivel arms between the tube and the ttings before using
the folding device the next time.
If the outboard wing had been dropped while having been pulled out by more than
0.1 m / 3.94 in but not completely, high loads may have occurred on the inner wing between the
spar pocket and the shell, which in extreme cases might have resulted in initial tearing of the
adhesive joint.
•
After the occurrence of such a load, the inner wing in the area of the joint between the spar
pocket and the lower shell has to be checked carefully for initial tearing prior the next ight.
