REMOVAL OF DRIVE SHAFT
The propeller shaft can be removed together with propeller reduction gearbox and the propeller
in one step:
•
Remove the nose-cone: Lift o left and right leg room coverings in the cockpit, loosen
clamping screw at the guide block of the nose-cone, pull out locking screw with nose-cone
spring, disconnect exible hoses, disconnect the antenna connection to transponder/GPS,
withdraw the nose-cone to the front.
• Remove cover of gearbox, fastened by tape and spring.
• Disconnect the control cable of the propeller brake at the connector.
• Disconnect the electrical connection (carbon brush)

Loosen fastening screws on the front gear supports (shock mounts); loosen balancing
spring on top of the propeller gearbox.
• Pull out propeller gearbox with propeller shaft.
• Disconnect the drive shaft on the gear (3x M10).
CAUTION
The free wheel clutch remains on the engine. Removal by loosening of the attachment screws on
the engine ange.
INSTALLATION OF DRIVE SHAFT
Removal sequence in reverse order. For tightening torques observe section 6.8. Ensure bolts/
screw locked with Loctite 243.
CAUTION
Clean the splines and check the condition of the surface coating. No signs of corrosion should
be detectable in and around the splines, and the color of the tooth proles should be the same
(see section 6.5.1).

CHECK OF PROPELLER GEAR ASSY.
With front gear installed
•
Check noise and internal backlash of propeller reduction gearbox by rotating propeller
unit clock- and counter clock- wise. Some (minor) backlash is allowable, in case of doubt
contact manufacturer.
• Check propeller gearbox visually for condition and leakage.
