3.8 COM AND NAV EQUIPMENT
COM and NAV equipment is installed in the instrument panel.
The loudspeaker is installed on the rear wall of the cockpit above the LH baggage compartment.
The gooseneck microphone is fastened between the backrests at the center console. When using
headsets it can be deselected.
Antennas are installed for:
• VHF-COM in rudder,
• VOR-NAV on cockpit oor. (Kevlar shell, optional equipment, retrot is not possible.)
• Transponder antenna in the front part of the tail cone or on nose-cone.
Only equipment listed in section 9 of this Maintenance Manual and approved for installation
in the S12 may be installed without additional certication. Only this equipment has been proven
by the manufacturer in accordance with the relevant certication requirements regarding initial
airworthiness and proper function. For modications, the installation instruction and the original
wiring harness of the aircraft manufacturer must be used.
This is also relevant for equipment approved for operation in motorglider or equipment without
certication requirements due to possible inuence on power consumption, electromagnetic
inuence and structural characteristics of the instrument panel. Outside Germany it must be
conrmed that the equipment is certied by the local authority in charge.
The weight limits for the equipment installed in the instrument panel and the inuence on CG
must be respected. The Equipment List and the Weight and Balance Report must be updated.
When equipment is modied, conformity with the type must be checked and conrmed by an
inspector. If equipment is installed which is not certied for use in the relevant aircraft it must
be proven by the authority, when applicable requirements are fullled (modication of a single
aircraft).
