Theleftandrightbrakepedals(Figure17)connect
totheleftandrightfrontwheels.Sincebothbrakes
workindependentlyofeachother,youcanusethe
brakestoturnsharplyortoincreasetractionif1
wheeltendstoslipwhileoperatingoncertainslope
conditions.However,youcandamagewetgrassor
softturfwheneveryouusethebrakestoturnsharply.
Tostopthemachinequickly,pressbothbrakepedals
together.Alwayslockthebrakestogetherwhen
transportingthemachine(Figure18).
ParkingBrake
Wheneveryoushutofftheengine,engagetheparking
braketopreventthemachinefromaccidentally
moving.T oengagetheparkingbrake,pushthelock
arm(Figure18)ontheleftbrakepedalsothatitlocks
togetherwiththerightpedal.Thenpushdownfullyon
bothpedals,pulltheparkingbrakeknobout(Figure
17),andreleasethepedals.Toreleasetheparking
brake,pressbothpedalsuntiltheparking-brakeknob
retracts.Beforestartingtheengine,releasethelock
armfromtheleftbrakepedalsothatbothpedalswork
independentlywitheachfrontwheel.
IgnitionSwitch
Theignitionswitchhas3positions:OFF,ON/PREHEAT,
andSTART.
LiftSwitch
Theliftswitch(Figure19)raisesandlowersthedeck.
Pressingtheswitchforward,intotheDETENTposition,
lowersthedeckandallowsthedecktooat.Pressing
theswitchbackwardraisesthedeck.Raisethe
deckwheneveryoutransportthemachinebetween
locations.Lowerthedeckwheneveryouarenotusing
themachine.
