the
engine
becomes
difficult

start
or
stalls
frequently,
have
the
engine
checked
immediately.
(b) Starting the engine
(diesel engine)
Before starting the engine, be
sure
to fol-
low
the
instructions in "(a) Before crank-
ing".
Normal starting procedure (engine cold)
1. Turn the key to "ON" and verify that
the engine preheating
indicator
light
has come on. Keep
the
key in
the
"ON" position until the light goes off.
2.
With your foot off the
accelerator
ped-
al, crank the engine by turning
the
key
to
"START". Release it when the en-
gine starts.
3.
After
the
engine runs stably, you are
ready to drive.
If the
weather
is below freezing, let
the
engine warm up for a
few
minutes
before
driving.
If
the engine is warm...
If
the
engine does not start, try
the
above
"Normal starting procedure".
If
the engine stalls...
Simply restart it, using
the
correct
proce-
dure given above,
depending
on
the
en-
gine temperature.
