Note that your insulin pump must be used with pre-filled 3.0 ml
Humalog
®
* pen cartridges and/or user-filled 3.0 ml glass car-
tridges with rubber membrane only. Your insulin pump is not
guaranteed for use with any other cartridges.
The CombiFill filling aid can be used to help you fill an empty 3.0
ml glass cartridge from your vial of insulin. Please refer to sec-
tion 4.1“Fill the cartridge” for further information.
Caution: Your insulin pump has been developed for use with 3.0 ml glass
cartridges. The cartridge is a sterile product intended for single use
only. Sterility is guaranteed for unopened packaging up to the indicated
expiration date. Do not use if the package or the cartridge itself
is damaged. Do not reuse single use materials. Reuse of single use ma-
terials might lead to a malfunction of your insulin pump and to incorrect
insulin delivery and/or an infection. Always handle the items with clean
hands.
Use specified cartridges only. The use of other cartridges can lead to mal-
function of your insulin pump and endanger your health and may void the
warranty.
Adapter
The adapter of your insulin pump fulfils several functions:
It physically connects the cartridge and the infusion set.
The adapter’s built-in needle pierces the cartridge’s rubber-
membrane, thus allowing the insulin to flow.
Combined with the rubber o-ring, it forms an efficient seal for
the cartridge compartment of your insulin pump.
The built-in valve prevents the uncontrolled seepage of the
insulin cartridge in case of pressure and level differences
between your insulin pump and the infusion site (siphoning
effect).
* Pre-filled 3.0 ml Humalog
®
pen cartridges are manufactured by Eli Lilly.
The service life of the PowerPack is affected by usage of your insulin pump, delivery
rates, temperature and other factors. A PowerPack should last approximately
68 weeks.
Caution: To prevent water from entering the pump casing, change the
PowerPack only in a dry environment and make sure that the seal is not
worn out or missing and that the PowerPack is properly inserted. Tighten
or loosen the PowerPack cover with the battery tool supplied with your
Accu-Chek D-TRONplus insulin pump (use of coins, knives, screwdrivers or
other sharp objects may harm your insulin pump). Do not over-tighten as
this may cause damage to the PowerPack cover and to the pump casing.
The PowerPack cover is correctly inserted and tightened when the Power-
Pack cover is slightly recessed.
Battery tool
Only use the battery tool to insert and tighten the PowerPack
(never use coins, screwdrivers and the like). You may use the
hole in the top to put the tool on your key chain.
You may use the battery tool to unscrew the luer connection
between the infusion set and adapter if it cannot be unscrewed
by hand. The battery tool has a notch that fits most infusion set
luers. Use the battery tool for unscrewing only. Never use it to
attach the infusion set.
Cartridge
Caution: Use specified cartridges only. The use of other cartridges can
lead to malfunction of your insulin pump and endanger your health and
will void the warranty.
