PowerFlex 755T Drives Configured to Order Program Product Information
Leakage Current
PowerFlex 750-Series products produce leakage current in the protective earthing conductor that exceeds 3.5 mA AC and/or 10 mA DC. The minimum size of the protective earthing (grounding) conductor that is used in the
application must comply with local safety regulations for high-protective earthing conductor current equipment.
Duty Rating
Each PowerFlex 755T Drives Configured to Order Program product is designed and sized based on a duty rating that is selected by the customer, based on the application. The duty rating of the drive must be set as
specified on the schematics and data nameplate.
Motor Overload Protection
PowerFlex 755T Drives Configured to Order Program products have the following motor overload protection.
Short-circuit Current Rating
This section covers short-circuit current rating for the PowerFlex 755T Drives Configured to Order Program product, based on input protection devices in a configured input bay. If there is no configured input bay or there
is a control-only configured input bay (has no input protection devices), then the short-circuit current rating information for the product is the same as the short-circuit current rating information for the standard drive.
Short-circuit current rating information for the standard drive is provided in the PowerFlex 750-Series Products with TotalFORCE Control Installation Instructions, publication 750-IN100
.
Branch Circuit Short-circuit Protection
This section covers branch circuit short-circuit protection that is provided by configured input bays with input protection devices. If there is no configured input bay or there is a control-only configured input bay (has no
input protection devices), then see the fuses and circuit breaker recommendations for the standard drive. Those recommendations are provided in the PowerFlex 750-Series Products with TotalFORCE Control Installation
Instructions, publication 750-IN100
.
Branch circuit short-circuit protection must meet the following requirements:
Branch circuit protection must be provided in accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC) and any additional local codes, or the equivalent.
Branch circuit protection for customer supplied 240/120V AC must have an AIC rating that is equal to or greater than the product short-circuit current rating.
The following methods of input protection are used in the configured input bays:
Input Power Fuses
on page 13
Input Power Circuit Breakers on page 15
Fuses
Two categories of fuses are used in the configured input bays:
Configured input bays with fuse input protection use Input Power Fuses
on page 13.
All configured input bays use Control Fuses
.
Control Fuses
ATTENTION: PowerFlex 750-Series drives with TotalFORCE control produce DC current in the protective earthing conductor
which can reduce the ability of residual current-operated protective devices (RCDs) or residual current-operated monitoring
devices (RCMs) of type A or AC to provide protection for other equipment in the installation. Where an RCD or RCM is used for
protection if there is direct or indirect contact, only an RCD or RCM of Type B is allowed on the supply side of this product.
Electronic motor overload protection Class 10 motor overload protection according to NEC article 430 and motor over-temperature protection according to NEC article 430.126 (A)(2). UL61800-5-1 File E59272.
Maximum short-circuit current rating
Suitable for use on a circuit capable of delivering not more than 100 kA rms symmetrical amperes, up to 600V maximum and 65 kA rms symmetrical amperes at 690V
maximum.
Actual short-circuit current rating
May be further limited by AIC rating of customer supplied branch circuit short-circuit protection device (fuse or circuit breaker). The lowest rated device in the circuit
determines the branch short circuit rating. If the protection device providing power to the drive is rated lower than 100 kA rms, the branch short circuit protection is the short
circuit rating of the protection device. If the protection device has a rating higher than 100 kA rms, the branch circuit protection is 100 kA rms. For branch circuit short-circuit
protection fuse and circuit breaker ratings, see Input Power Fuses
on page 13 and Input Power Circuit Breakers on page 15.
