(2) Assembling

Step Procedure

1 Check the correct direction of the gland stud bolts in Figure 9-3.

Apply anti-seizure agent Never-Seez made by Bostik Inc. indicated in Table 9-3 to the

threads on the stuffing box end, and screw the stud into the stuffing box.

2 First, insert the spacer, paying extra attention not to damage the surface of the stem.

3 Gently insert a carbon ring all the way to the bottom with a pipe, etc., taking care not to

damage the ring.

PTFE yarn

Insert one adapter packing ring, without opening the gap, all the way to the bottom

with a pipe, etc., and push it lightly.

Insert one of the main packing rings. Be sure to open the ring in the manner illustrated

gap shifted by 180° each time.

Insert one adapter packing ring, without opening the gap, all the way to the bottom

Insert one adapter packing ring, without opening the gap, all the way to the bottom

with a pipe, etc., and push it lightly.

Insert one of the main packing rings, without opening the gap, with the marking

facing upward, all the way to the bottom with a pipe, etc., and push it lightly. Insert the

remaining two main packing rings in the same manner.

Insert one adapter packing ring, without opening the gap, all the way to the bottom

with a pipe, etc., and push it lightly.

5 Gently insert a carbon ring all the way to the bottom with a pipe, etc., taking care not to

damage the ring.
