The
open
fuse

ockout
device
consists
of 2
or
3
separa

ely
operated
devices
(one
per
phase)
each
wired
in

allel
to

fuses.
This
devi
ce
is
furnished
on
all
AKU
bre~ers,
breaker
fuse
combinations
and L
B-
1
protectors
f
urnished
after
August,. 1960. The
devices
are
mo
unted
on
the
left
hand
side
of
the
breaker
(looking
from
front).
The
purpose
of
this
device.·
is
to
trip
the
.
breaker
upon
the
blowing
of
any
one
of
the
breakers
fuses
.
OPERATION .
When any orie of
the
breakers
fuses
blow·
the
co
il
(6),
in
th
at
particular
phase,
is
energized
and
the
ar
mature
(8)
closes.
The
_
armature
(8)
moving
to
the
closed
air
gap
position
engages
the
trip
paddle
(1) and
trips
the
breake
r. W
ith
the
armatu
re cl
osed
,
spring(13)discharges
, pivot-
ing
the
arm
(9)
in
a
clockwise
direction
and
latches
the
armature
(9) in -
the
closed
position. T
his
motion
al
so
moves
the
reset
.button
(10)
forward
in
the
extended
position
indicating which fu

has
blown.
The
latch
closed
armature
holds
the
breaker
in
the

rip
free
position
until
it
is
released
by
operation
of
the
manual
reset
button(lO).
The
coil

is
de-energized

as
soon
as
the
breaker
is
tripped
open.
