CLM mode check
On cellular systems, the available system memory can be accessed using two different approaches:
interleaved memory, meaning that the average memory latency is constant for all processes in
the system; and non-interleaved memory, which provides lower memory latency for processes
running in the same cell as the memory. Non-interleaved memory is also called cell local memory
(CLM) or global non-interleaved (GNI) memory. Microsoft Windows has better performance
when the memory is configured with maximum CLM.
During a scripted install, SSTK checks if the memory is correctly configured using the
CLMChecking utility. If the configuration is not optimal, the following message appears:
For optimal performance of Windows in a partition, set the CLM to 100%
in all cells. Refer to the nPartition Guide for detailed instructions
on setting CLM using the Partiton Manager or the nPartition command
line interface. Press Ctrl+C for configuring now or wait for reboot.
NOTE: SSTK does not provide a tool to configure the memory.
Upload the operating system installation files
To install an operating system on the target servers, the operating system installation files copied
from the Microsoft RTM CDs to the repository must be accessible to the SSTK. The installation
files of all supported operating system editions can be hosted in the repository, and scripts can
be used to install the appropriate operating system to specific target servers. For example, you
could upload the operating system files for the English and the Japanese versions of the SP1 and
non-SP1 versions and install a particular operating system based on server selection criteria.
NOTE: The Integrity SSTK currently supports Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise
Edition for Itanium-based systems in English and Japanese with and without SP1 or SP2.
Populate the /os/windows/2003-enterprise/ directory with the unmodified contents of
the operating system installation CD. If needed, you can create additional directories for other
editions or versions of the operating system as a peer to this directory. Figure 2-4 shows the
resulting directory structure.
