Product Activation
Installing a License
Note If an activation license for a product is installed on a Services Module, the
same license cannot be installed on a different module. Also, a different
product cannot be installed on a module that already has an activation license
installed for a product.
This section describes the steps required to obtain and install the product
activation license key.
Registration on the HP My ProCurve portal is required to activate products
installed on the Services Module. Registration is free. To register, go to
https://my.procurve.com and follow the registration instructions.
The general procedure for product activation uses several IDs and keys:
■ registration ID — This number comes with the product, and represents
the customer’s right to activate a product on a particular type of module.
■ hardware ID — This number identifies the module the product is installed
on, and includes the module’s serial number and an identifier for the
product being activated.
■ license key — This number is generated at https://my.procurve.com, based
on a registration ID and a hardware ID. When this number is installed into
the module, it activates the product installed on the module.
■ uninstall verification key — This number is generated if a product is
uninstalled from a module. It can be used to generate a new registration
ID on the My ProCurve portal, which allows the product to be activated
on a different module, or reactivated on the same module.
These numbers are used with the My ProCurve portal and the module’s CLI.
