B
baseboard
management
controller (BMC)
The BMC complies with the Intelligent Platform
Management Interface (IPMI). It collects, processes,
and stores sensor signals, and monitors the operating
status of components. The BMC provides the hardware
status and alarm information about the managed
objects to the upper-level management system, so that
the management system can manage the objects.
E
ejector lever
A part on the panel of a device used to facilitate
installation or removal of the device.
Ethernet A baseband local area network (LAN) architecture
developed by Xerox Corporation by partnering with
Intel and DEC. Ethernet uses the Carrier Sense Multiple
Access/Collision Detection (CSMA/CD) access method
and allows data transfer over various cables at 10
Mbit/s. The Ethernet
specication is the basis for the
IEEE 802.3 standard.
