1.1.7 Precautions for Using the ISM
To use the OceanStor ISM (hereinafter referred to as the ISM) correctly, you should observe the
precautions of running, setting, and operating the ISM.
Precautions for Running the ISM
To ensure that the ISM runs properly, be aware of the following precautions:
l To ensure that the running power of the ISM computer is stable, use the uninterrupted power
supply (UPS).
l Install the ISM software in the file path that contains only English characters.
l Do not modify the name and IP address of the computer where the ISM server is installed,
unless required. Otherwise, the communication between the ISM server and the device may
fail.
Precautions for Operating the ISM
When you operate the ISM, be aware of the following precautions:
l To ensure that data can be restored after operation failure, export and back up the
configuration data or operating data before changing the current configuration.
l Be cautious when you perform a risky operation. Usually, on the ISM, a prompt is displayed
indicating the risk before a risky operation is performed.
l To reduce data loss to the maximum when the system fails, periodically back up data.
– Back up the configuration data and operating data of the ISM once a month.
– Back up the configuration data immediately when the service configuration data
changes.
l Periodically clear outdated backup data to ensure that there is sufficient disk space for new
backup data.
1.2 Purpose of Routine Maintenance
This section describes the purpose of routine maintenance.
