INTRODUCTION
This section includes information about driving on road. There is a
separate section for driving o road.
ENGINE AND POWERTRAIN BREAK-IN
You must break in the gasoline engine and powertrain for the
greatest reliability and performance.
For the rst 500 miles (800 km) :
Do not overwork the engine in any gear.
Do not apply full throttle.
Avoid revving the engine.
Avoid fast acceleration and heavy braking whenever
possible.
Fuel
and
engine
oil consumption may be higher during the break-
in phase. You may notice some smoke during the rst few drives
because of wax and oil evaporating o the exhaust system. If so,
simply park in an outdoor space.
TURNING ELECTRICAL POWER ON WITHOUT STARTING THE ENGINE
Insert the key into the ignition switch.
Turn the key to the ACC position (2) to switch on
electrical accessories without starting the engine.
Drawing power without running the engine can discharge and
deplete
the battery.
Make sure not to draw power in ACC mode
longer than necessary.
STARTING AND STOPPING THE ENGINE
To start the engine:
Ensure the gear selector is in the P (Park) position. The
engine will not start otherwise.
Press and hold the brake pedal with your foot.
