the parking brake. Depress the accelera

When accelerating from a stop on a
steep hill, the vehicle may have a ten

shift lever into 2 (Second Gear) will
help prevent the vehicle from rolling

Power brakes
Your vehicle has power-assisted brakes
that adjust automatically through nor
-
mal usage.
In the event that the power-assisted
brakes lose power because of a stalled
engine or some other reason, you can
still stop your vehicle by applying
greater force to the brake pedal than
you normally would. The stopping dis
-
tance, however, will be longer.
When the engine is not running, the
reserve brake power is partially depleted
each time the brake pedal is applied. Do
not pump the brake pedal when the
power assist has been interrupted.
Pump the brake pedal only when neces
-
sary to maintain steering control on slip
-
pery surfaces.
僅 When stepping on the brake pedal
under a certain driving or weather
condition you may witness your car
make a sound of squealing or some
other noises. This is not a brake mal
-
function but a normal phenomenon.
僅 When driving on the road to which
deicing chemicals are applied, the
vehicle may witness noises from the
brake or abnormal abrasion of tires
because of such deicing chemicals.
You should operate brake additionally
so that you would be able to remove
the deicing chemicals on the brake
disk and pad under a safe traffic con
-
dition.
