Measuring Systems
The following systems for CO control and O
2
trim may be connected to the CMS:
2.3.6 Acceptance and Inspection
• Check the following details as given on the label affixed to the side of the device:
• Configuration number
• Software version number
• Confirm that parameters relevant for safety have been configured in accordance with
standards and the applicable requirements for each combustion system to be monitored.
The parameters at access level 1 must be protected against unauthorised reconfiguration
by changing the default password ’000000’.
• When activating a curve set or a fuel changeover, the inspection must obtain proof that
safe, stable combustion is guaranteed during the changeover procedure.
During an on-the-fly changeover or loss of power, the inspection must also obtain proof
that the permitted combustion heat output is not exceeded during the changeover, and
that the combustion characteristics remain within limits that are acceptable in terms of de-
vice safety.
• The values configured for the actuators for the control of the fuel quantity, air quantity, re-
circulation gas quantity and all other controllable variables for the combustion system
must be stored in sufficient numbers (i.e. at a minimum of five separate points) across the
burner’s entire output range.
• The values configured for the respective actuators must be assigned in such a way that
ensures safe and stable operation of the combustion system across its entire output range
and during all modes of operation. This applies not only to the actuators for controlling the
fuel quantity, air quantity and recirculation gas quantity, and to all other safety-relevant
controllable variables for the combustion system, but also to the configuration of parame-
ters for correctional intervention (e.g. when using a CO or O
2
trim device). The combustion
chamber pressure, fuel pressure, temperature and pressure or the combustion air, and the
calorific value of the fuel must also be taken into account.
• Proof of this must be obtained by measuring the combustion characteristics when operat-
ing the combustion system at the shut-down thresholds of the electronic ratio control de-
vice, and at the limits configured for the correction connection (e.g. to an O
2
trim device).
To determine the shut-down thresholds applicable in each case, see the chapter 8.10.5
CO Control: Start-up O2 Monitoring Shut-off Limits’. Follow the specified procedure set out
in chapter 8.10.6 Checking the Combustion-related Limit Values
If the combustion system is equipped with a failsafe CO/O
2
control device, the perfor-
mance of a test at the shut-down thresholds is not required. Instead, a test must be per-
