Condition Diagnostic Steps Correction
LCD does not show MPH indications when the
car is moving.
Check tachometer for
loose connections.
Check for 12 volt between the
red/gray and the black/gray wires
on sensor. If 12 volt is present
check the dark green/gray wire
from sensor to pin 14 on controller
if good see step 2.
Replace the motor tachometer.
LCD does not show MPH indications when the
car is moving and tachometer has been
replaced.
Replace the motor.
Vehicle operated properly, but there are no
status indications on the LCD.
Verify connections
between the motor
controller and the
LCD.
Check Fuse 5.
Check Fuse 9.
If there are no loose connections
found, replace the LCD.
Battery charger will not charge battery. Verify the voltage to
battery charger (110
VAC).
If voltage was not present,
connect AC power and try
charging the batteries again. If
they will not charge, go to the next
step.
Battery charger will not charge battery, and
voltage to battery charger (110 VAC) has been
verified.
Observe the indicator
lamps on the charger.
Refer to Charger Fault codes.
Battery charger will not charge battery, voltage to
battery charger (110 VAC) has been verified and
temperature sensor has been verified.
Verify voltage of each
battery is greater than
6 VDC.
If any battery has an output
voltage less than 6 VDC, turn off
the MDS and charge each battery
with an offline battery charger for
1 hour. Then turn the MDS back
on and plug the extension cord
into the vehicle.
Cord plug icon lit on display with cord not
plugged into car. Car will not move.
Verify if there is 72
volts in green wire at
connector J1, pin J on
PSDM.
If NO, check for 72 volts at the
inline spade connector of green
wire in charger harness. If 72
volts is present check resistance
between the green wire from J1
pin J on PSDM to green wire on
charger harness at spade
connector. Repair or replace wire
if resistance is more than 5 Ohms.
If 72 volts are not coming from the
charger in the green wire at the
space connector, replace the
charger.
