5.3. Compensation of non-vertical Impact Direction
The effect from impact directions that deviate from vertically down is always automatically compen-
sated when displaying converted scales (i.e. HV, HB, HRC, HRB, HS, and, for Equotip Piccolo 2, also
Rm). When displaying HLD / HLDL, the user can choose for or against automatic compensation:
• Press the key to enter the Conversion menu level.
• Use the keys or to navigate to the hardness scale HLD / HLDL ( / ).
• Confirm with the key to change to the Selection menu level.
• Use the keys or to select
(automatic impact direction compensation) or
(no impact direction compensation).
• Confirm with the key to change back to the Impact level.
5.4. Tensile Strength (Equotip Piccolo 2 only)
Measurements for certain steels can be converted to tensile strength according to DIN EN ISO 18265.
Follow the same instructions as given in “Hardness scales”.
5.5. Custom Conversion Curves (Equotip Piccolo 2 only)
When testing materials for which no generally applicable conversions are available, user specific
conversions can be defined using the Piccolink software. These custom conversion curves can be
accessed through option
in the hardness scale menu, see section “Hardness scales”.
