4.1. Impact Counters
The Equotip Piccolo 2 features two independent impact counters:
Measurement counter can be controlled by the user through the field “Measurement counter”
(range from 1 to 9999).
Impact counter can only be reset by the device manufacturer.
4.2. Fixed Number of Impacts
In order to automatically complete each measurement series after a pre-defined number n of impacts,
use the field “Fixed number of impacts” to adjust n, e.g. n = 10.
4.3. Custom Conversion Curves
When testing materials for which no generally applicable conversions are available, the pre-defined
standard conversions can be adjusted using the “HC” settings.
When developing such custom conversion curves, the user must pay attention as follows:
Sample surfaces must be prepared very carefully. If possible, samples shall be of a size which
makes coupling to a support base unnecessary.
The functioning of the Equotip Piccolo 2 device shall be verified against the Equotip test block
prior to each measurement series.
The functioning of the static hardness testing machine (HV, HB, HRC etc.) shall be verified against
respective test blocks of the corresponding measuring scale and range.
To obtain a pair of comparative values, the mean values from at least 10 to 15 HL measurement
values and from 3 values from the static test shall be calculated. These values shall be found from
proximate positions in a small measuring area.
