TheAIS700cantransmitdatatodevicesconnectedviaNMEA0183.TheAIS700isconnectedusing

theNMEA0183wireslocatedontheP ower/datacable.

Note:WhilstitispossibletooutputbothAISandGNSSdata,itisNO Trecommendedthatyou

outputGNSSdatatoexternaldevicesasthiscancausedataconﬂictsand/orperformanceissues.

TheabilitytooutputGNSSdataisintendedfordiagnosticspurposesonly.

TheAIS700includes2bidirectionalNMEA0183ports.Thebaudrateforeachportcanbeconﬁgured

usingthesuppliedproAIS2software .Bothportscanbemultiplexedwhichenablesanydataprovided

tooneporttobecombinedwithAISdataandoutputontheotherport.

Typicallyport1isconnectedtoanMFDandconﬁguredfor38,400baudrate,thebaudraterequired

forAISdatatransfer.Port2isconnectedtoaHeadingsensororotherNMEA0183deviceand

conﬁguredfor4,800baudrate.

T oavoidpotentialdataconﬂictsorloopsmultiplenetworkprotocolsshouldnotbeconnectedto

thesamedevicei.e.:

•DoNOTconnecttheAIS700toaMFDusingNMEA0183andSea Talkng®/NMEA2000

connectionsatthesametime.

•DoNOTconnecttheAIS700toaVHFRadiousingNMEA0183andSeaTalkng®/NMEA2000

connectionsatthesametime.

•DoNOTconnecttheAIS700toaPCusingNMEA0183andUSBconnectionsatthesametime.

•IfyouareconnectingtoanAIScapableVHFRadio,youmustdisabletheVHFRadio’sAIS

functionﬁrst.RefertoyourRadio’sdocumentationfordetailsondisablingtheAISfunction.
