6.2Windtransducerlocationrequirements
Whenselectingalocationforyourwindtransducer,itisimportanttoconsider
anumberoffactors.
•Itisrecommendedthetransducerisinstalledfacingforwards.
•Themountingsurfacemustbehorizontal.Ifthesurfaceisnothorizontal,
usethemastmanufacturer’saccessoryorasuitableshimtocreatea
horizontalsurface.
•Thetransducershouldbemountedashighaspossibleandawayfrom
anyequipmentwhichmayshieldthetransducerorotherwisedisturbthe
airflowtothetransducer.
•Itshouldbefarenoughawayfromequipmentorcablingthatmaycause
interference,suchasmastheadlightsorRadarcabling.
•Theremustbeaviablerouteforthetransducer’scabletoberoutedto
thesuppliedgateway.
•Thevaneandcupsmustbeabletospinfreely.
•Thereissufficientaccessforinstallationandservicing.
6.3Gatewaylocationrequirements
Thegatewaycaneitherbemountedonaflatsurfaceusingfixings,orsecured
inasuitablelocationusingcableties.Whenselectingalocationforthe
gateway,itisimportanttoconsideranumberoffactors.
•Potentialignitionsource—ThisproductisNOTapprovedforusein
hazardous/flammableatmospheres(suchasinanengineroomornear
fueltanks).
•Ventilation—Theproductshouldhaveadequateairflowaroundit,atall
times.
•Damage—Installtheproductinalocationwhereitwillbeprotectedfrom
physicaldamageandvibration.
•Mountingsurface—Ensuretheproductisadequatelysupportedona
securesurface.Donotmounttheproductorcutholesinplaceswhichmay
damagethestructureofthevessel.
•Cabling—Ensuretheproductismountedinalocationwhichallowsthe
properrouting,supportandconnectionofallcables:
–Minimumbendradiusof100mm(3.94in),unlessotherwisestated.
–Usecableclipsatregularintervalstopreventstressonconnectors.
–Ifyourinstallationrequiresmultipleferritestobeaddedtoacable,
additionalcableclipsshouldbeusedtoensurethattheextraweight
ofthecableissupported.
•Wateringress—Theproductisdesignedtobeinstalledbelowdecksin
aprotectedareaawayfromprolongedanddirectexposuretorainand
saltspray.Topreventwateringress,theproduct’scovermustbefittedin
allinstallations.
•Electricalinterference—Selectalocationthatisfarenoughawayfrom
equipmentorcablingthatmaycauseinterference,suchasmotors,
generators,radiotransmittersorreceivers,magneticcompassorpower
cables.
•Networkconnection—Selectalocationthatisascloseaspossibleto
aspurconnectiononthevessel’sSea Talkng®/NMEA2000network
cabling.Thiswillhelptokeepcablerunstoaminimum.
