ASeaTalkng®backbonerequiresasingle12Vdcpowersupply.Powercan
besuppliedtotheSea Talkng®backbonebyoneofthefollowingmethods:

directconnectiontoa12Vdcbatteryusinganinline5ampfuse,
connectiontoa12Vdcdistributionpanelusinga5ampthermalbreaker,
(2)
connectiontotheSeaTalkng®connectorofanAutopilotControlUnit
(ACU)(notACU-100or150),oranSPXcoursecomputer(notSPX-5).
for24Vvessels,connectionmustbeviaa5amp,regulated,continuous
24Vdcto12Vdcconverter
Note:
(1)
Thebatteryusedforstartingthevessel’sengine(s)shouldNOTbeused
topowertheSeaTalkng®backbone,asthiscancausesuddenvoltage
dropswhentheenginesarestarted.
(2)
TheACU-100,ACU-150orSPX-5productscannotbeusedtopower
theSea Talkng®backbone.TheACU’s/SPX’sSea Talkng®connector
hasapowerswitchthatmustbeintheonpositiontoprovidepowerto
thebackbone.

1.ACU/SPXautopilottoSea Talkngspurcable0.3m(1.0ft)(partnumber
R12112).ConnectsthecoursecomputertotheSeaTalkngbackbone.
Thisconnectioncanalsobeusedtoprovide12Vdcpowertothe
SeaTalkngbackbone.
9.3SeaTalkng®productloading
ThenumberofproductsthatcanbeconnectedtoaSeaTalkng®backbone
dependsonthecurrentdrawofeachproductandthephysicallengthof
thebackbonecabling.
NMEA2000LoadEquivalencyNumbers(LEN)areusedtoexpressthe
amountofcurrentthatisdrawnfromSeaTalkng®products(1LEN=50
mA)TheLENforeachproductcanbefoundintheproduct’sTechnical
Specification.
