Explanations
Permissible operating range
The permissible operating range is limited by thermal, mechanical, and electromagnetic
boundaries. The data in this documentation apply to the following temperatures:
● For naturally cooled motors: up to 40 °C ambient temperature
● For water-cooled motors: up to 30 °C coolant inlet temperature
The motor heats up due to the losses generated in the motor (current-dependent losses, no-
load losses, friction losses).
The utilization of the motor depends on the cooling method (naturally cooled, forced
ventilation, liquid-cooled).
To maintain the temperature limits, the permissible torque – starting from static torque M0 –
decreases as the speed increases.
The characteristics below show the limits of the permissible temperature range.
