S-1FT7 synchronous motors

Connecting motors in series
We can only recommend series connection of motors if:
● The required flow rates of the motors are approximately the same (< factor of 2)
● The maximum cooling water inlet temperature is maintained in the second or third motor.
Note
Derating of series-connected motors
The heat dissipation of the cooling water in the sec
ond and third motor may require derating
(see Table Derating factors).
Specification of the cooling water
Cooling water
Table 3- 9 Water specification as coolant
Quality of the water used as coolant for motors with alumi-
num, stainless steel tubes + cast iron or steel jacket
< 40 ppm, can be achieved by adding deionized water.
6 ... 9 (with aluminum 6 ... 8)
Size of entrained particles
0.2 ... 0.25% inhibitor Nalco TRAC100 (previously 0GE056)
If necessary 20 ... 30% Antifrogen N (manufacturer Clariant)
Other coolants (not water-based)
If you use different cooling media (e.g. oil, cooling lubricant), derating may be necessary in
order to comply with the thermal motor limit.
Note
Derating when using other cooling lubricants
Derating is required
for water-oil mixtures with more than 10% oil.
