Preparations for use

When carrying out any work, carefully observe the information provided in Chapter "Safety
instructions (Page 13)".
4.1 Notes for system integrators
Components to be supplied by the customer for converters employing fuseless technology
For the converter in fuseless technology, a correctly dimensioned transformer must limit the
overcurrent at the input terminals in the event of faults.
Overcurrent detection and evaluation must be implemented by the customer using appropriate,
independent and higher-level protection devices, e.g. SIPROTEC protection devices. The
protection devices must ensure that even a two-phase short circuit caused by a thyristor fault,
for example, results in the converter being reliably switched off. Due to the relatively high
transformer uk, simple primary-side monitoring is generally not sufficient.
Note
The necessary components are not part of the scope of delivery.
Note
For the maximum permissible input currents at the converter input, refer to the "Technical data"
section in the manual for the power unit.
Components to be supplied by the customer for the converter in an open connection
Commutating reactors are not supplied with the converter.
General engineering information and instructions
Note
The fans and door limit switches are included in the scope of supply.
For the fans:
The nominal currents specified in the Equipment Manual can be achieved with converter fan
