5.6 Mounting the surge arrester panel
General
Air-cooled power units designed with branch fuses are supplied with the following separately
packed components:
● One, three, or six surge suppressor panels, depending on the circuit used
A surge suppressor panel is equipped with three surge suppressors.
● The matching fuses
Mount the surge suppressor panel in a separate cabinet between the transformer and
commutating reactors. Refer to the relevant circuit diagram.
Note
The overvoltage panel corresponds to degree of protection IP00. Take appropriate protective
action.
Installing the surge suppressor panel
WARNING
Danger due to high voltages
The surge suppressor panel (supplied separately packed) is not shockproof. If you come into
contact with a surge arrester that is under voltage, this can result in death, serious injury, or
material damage.
● Observe the five safety rules.
Install the surge suppressor panel with a clearance of 60 mm to the wall as shown in the
dimension drawing and the following diagram.
