Installing
– Lubricate the spring with a few
drops of STIHL special lubricant
before installation – see 14.
– Position replacement spring with
frame in the fan cover.

The spring anchor loop must
engage the lug in the fan cover.
 Place suitable guides on the
recesses (arrows) and push the
spring into its seat in the fan
cover.
If the rewind spring has popped out,
refit it in the assembly tool
1116 893 4800 as follows:
 Position the anchor loop about
25 mm from the edge of the
spring housing.

 Fit the rewind spring in the
counterclockwise direction,
starting from outside and working
inwards.
– Fit the spring housing in the fan
housing and press the spring
loop into the recess at the same

time.
– Install the rope rotor – see 8.4.
– Tension the rewind spring
– see 8.5.2.
Reassemble all other parts in the
reverse sequence.
– Remove the shroud – see 6.4.
 Take out the screws (arrows).

 Use screwdriver (1) to pry the clip
upwards.
