Towing a Disabled Vehicle
If your vehicle is disabled, your vehicle can
be towed by a tow truck with the front
wheels lifted, according to the instructions
below.

NOTE:
If your vehicle is equipped with the transfer
switch, and if the steering and drive train
are in good condition and the engine can
be started, the vehicle may also be towed
according to the instructions in the “Towing
Your Vehicle (recreational towing)” section.
Front wheels lifted
It may be towed by a tow truck with the
front wheels lifted and a dolly under the
rear wheels.

When you tow your vehicle, follow
the instructions below to avoid acci-
dents and damage to your vehicle.

A safety chain should always be used
when you tow your vehicle.

To help avoid damage to your vehicle
during towing, proper equipment and
towing procedures must be used.
CAUTION
If vehicle damage (such as steering
or drivetrain damage, inability to
operate free axle mechanism, etc.)
prevent normal use of the towing pro-
cedures for your vehicle described in
the “Towing Your Vehicle (recre-
ational towing)” section, have your
vehicle towed with two wheels lifted
by the tow truck and the other two
wheels on a towing dolly.
