ServiceInterval:Every200hours—Servicethe
air-cleanerlter(morefrequently
whenoperatingconditionsaredusty
ordirty).
•Checktheair-cleanerbodyfordamagewhich
couldcauseanairleak;replaceitifitisdamaged.
Checkthewholeintakesystemforleaks,damage,
orloosehoseclamps.
•Changingtheairlterbeforeitisnecessary
increasesthechanceofdirtenteringtheengine
whenthelterisremoved.
•Ensurethatthecoverisseatedcorrectlyandseals
withtheaircleanerbody.

largeaccumulationsofdebrispackedbetween
theoutsideoftheprimarylterandthecanister.
Thiscleaningprocesspreventsdebrisgetting
intotheintakewhenyouremovetheprimary
lter.
Important:Avoidusinghighpressureair
whichcouldforcedirtthroughthelterinto
theintaketract.
4.Removeandreplacetheprimarylter,as
follows:

A.Inspectthenewlterforshippingdamage;
donotuseadamagedelement.
B.Carefullypulltheoldlteroutofthelter
bodyanddiscardit.
C.Insertthenewlterbyapplyingpressure
totheouterrimoftheelementtoseatitin
thecanister,checkingthesealingendofthe
lterandthebody.
Important:Donotapplypressuretothe
exiblecenterofthelter.
5.Cleanthedirtejectionportlocatedinthe
removablecover.Removetherubberoutlet
valvefromthecover,cleanthecavityand
replacetheoutletvalve.
6.Installthecoverorientingtherubberoutletvalve
inadownwardposition—betweenapproximately
5o’clockto7o’clockwhenviewedfromtheend.
7.Ensurethatthelatchessecurethecovertothe
body(Figure32).

ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Theengineisshippedwith3.7L(3.9USqt)(with
lter)ofoilinthecrankcase;however,youmustcheck
theoillevelbeforeandafterstartingtheenginethe
rsttime.
Usehigh-qualityengineoilthatmeetsthefollowing
specications:
•APIClassicationLevelRequired:CH–4,CI–4or
higher.
•Preferredoil:SAE10W–30
•Alternateoil:SAE15W–40
ToroPremiumEngineoilisavailablefromyour
distributorinthe10W–30viscosity.Seetheparts
catalogforpartnumbers.
Note:Thebesttimetochecktheengineoiliswhen
theengineiscoolbeforeithasbeenstartedforthe
day.Ifithasalreadybeenrun,allowtheoiltodrain
backdowntothesumpforatleast10minutesbefore
