Steering Gear
Description
The steering gear assembly is made up of a vertically
mounted steering shaft and a horizontal sector gear.
The sector gear is adjustable so that excessive
backlash play in steering gears can be removed
(Figure 21).

Steering Backlash Adjustment
Use the following procedure if there is excessive
steering backlash.
1. Remove battery and battery tray from the tractor.
2. Position the steering wheel so the tie rods clear
the front axle and remove them from the steering
arms (Figure 22).

3. Loosen the locking nut on the eccentric (Figure
23). Position the steering wheel spokes so they
extend outward left to right.
