9.3 Parallel Battery Cable Installation Instructions
The following instructions cover the process to connect more than one 440B battery cabinet to the 4400 Series UPS.
The Battery Cabinets must be daisy-chained to the UPS DC (Battery) Input.
The Bus Stubs, for each pole, allow connecting two cables to each pole of the circuit breaker. (Figure 1)
WARNING
Lethal voltages exist within the equipment. Observe all warning and
cautions in this manual. Failure to comply may result in serious
injury or death.
Open the Battery Cabinet circuit breaker before attempting to install
cabling.

1. Switch the Battery Cabinet Circuit Breaker to OFF
2. Replace the terminal lugs with nut keeps
a. Locate the top (-) and bottom (+) output terminal lugs on the right side of the circuit breaker. Leave the cable to
the middle lug installed. (Figure 9.7-A).
b. Use a ๎›€at-blade screwdriver to pry the terminal lug insert out of the upper circuit breaker lug slot. Repeat for the
lower terminal lug insert. (Figure 9.7-B)
c. Position the nut keep insert so the two rounded corners face the breaker, then slide the nut keep insert into the
breaker lug slot until it fully seats. Repeat for the remaining nut keep. (Figure 9.8).
