New AutoRead Customer Requirements
Customers must complete two pre-startup requirements before they can be placed on the
AutoRead training list:
1. A sample route file created at the customer's site. The billing programmer creates a
sample route file by writing a program called a File Interface that uses data from their
customer billing accounts to create a route. The minimum route file required fields are:
• Account Number
• Service Address
• Service Type: W, G, E or P
• Meter ID
• Meter Type (defined by Sensus)(This is the information that is loaded into the reading
device.)
Note:
A detailed listing of the required and optional import and export fields for interfacing with
AutoRead can be found in Appendix B.
Note:
The sample "route" must be created at the customer's location, which means the FILE
INTERFACE MUST BE INSTALLED AT THEIR SITE IN ORDER TO CREATE THE "ROUTE."
Typical Sample Route File Layout - IMPORT / From Billing System to HHD
Each record contains: 155 characters without carriage return and line feed OR 157 if
carriage return and line feed terminated.
