7.4.Input / output
In this section it is possible to configure I/O slots of the meter.
The number and type of I/O on the M4M network analyzer varies according to the different product
versions. Please refer to the table in “3.3.Versions” for the detail of I/O types per each M4M.
I/O
Each programmable I/O slot con be configured as follow:
Input type: Output type:
Pulse input Alarm output
Tariff input Communication output
Pulse output
Output ON
Output OFF

Each programmable I/O can be configured as Pulse Input or Tariff Input.
Selecting Pulse Input, the device counts detected pulses connected to input port, that should last at least
30ms. It is needed to consecutively set a pulse ratio associated to the pulse counter, and then a unit of
measurement to be associated to the pulses.
Setting page Description
1. Pulse ratio Manual value between 1 and 999999.
2. Unit
No unit, Wh, kWh, MWh, Varh, kVarh, MVarh, VAh, kVAh, MVAh, gal,
BTU, L, m^3, MCF, lbs, kg, klbs, Therm.
Selecting Tariff Input allows to manage the tariffs via inputs. Only I/O1, I/O2 and I/O3 can be used for
Tariff inputs. It is mandatory to select Tariff source as “Input” inside Configuration -> Installation ->
Tariffs. Please see chapter “7.7.Tariffs” for relationship between tariffs and input status.
