Performing resistance measurements
Measuring resistance
• Seven ranges:
• Slow reading rate: 120 .000 W, 1.20000 kW, 12.0000 kW, 120.000 kW, 1.20000 MW, 12.0000 MW,
120.000 MW
• Medium reading rate: 400 .00 W, 4.0000 kW, 40.000 kW, 400.00 kW, 4.0000 MW, 40.000 MW,
300.00 MW
• Fast reading rate: 400 .0 W, 4.000 kW, 40.00 kW, 400.0 kW, 4.000 MW, 40.00 MW, 300.0 MW
• Measurement method: 2-wire ohms or 4-wire ohms, open circuit voltage limited to < 5 V
• Input protection: 500 V on all ranges
1 Press . The default function is 2- wire W measurement.
2 Connect the red and black test leads to the input terminal as shown in
Figure 1- 15 or Figure 1- 16 on page 24 respectively (according to the
selected measurement method).
3 Probe the test points (by shunting the resistor) and read the display. In
auto- ranging mode, the multimeter automatically selects the appropriate
range and the measurement is displayed.
Disconnect circuit power and discharge all high-voltage capacitors before measuring
resistance to avoid damaging the multimeter or the device under test.
