5 Position the installed power cord retention clip so that it is folded upward. See
the upper power supply in Figure 2-4.
6 Plug the AC power cord into the receptacle on the faceplate of the power
supply. Snap the bail lock latch down over the boot of the cable to lock the
cable into place.
Note: After it is installed, the power cord will be dressed to the right. It is not
appropriate to dress the power cord to the left, across the front of the 5150
chassis.

7 Repeat step 4 to step 6 to install the power cabling for the second power
supply.
8 Route the AC power cables for PS A and PS B to the right and plug them into
a power source.
The power supplies will turn on.
9 Verify the power supply LEDs. The following LED indications should be
present on the 5150:
• PS A - Status LED is solid green, Input LED is solid green
• PS B - Status LED is solid green, Input LED is solid green
• PWR - solid green
Note: The system does not distinguish between a faulty and an unpowered
supply. As a result, if redundant power supplies are installed, but only one
supply is connected to a power source, the unpowered supply will cause the
system to report an alarm state (ALRM LED solid yellow and STAT LED off).
This alarm will be cleared when the power supply is properly initialized.
Note: The system can operate with only one power supply receiving power.
But both power supplies must be installed. Power from the backplane of the
chassis will be used to activate the fans in the unpowered supply and assist
with cooling the 5150.
The power supplies have now been installed and the system has been
powered on.
