Basic Operation: Using the Cisco Digital Media Encoder 2000 Front

Startup
NOTE: If this is the first time the Cisco Digital Media Encoder 2000 has been started, please read
the previous section entitled First Start Setup before continuing.
To start your Cisco Digital Media Encoder 2000 encoder, press the <POWER> button on the front
panel.
While powering up, the Cisco Digital Media Encoder 2000 LCD readout will display the following
series of messages:
When the Cisco Digital Media Encoder 2000 is ready for operation, the Cisco Digital Media
Encoder 2000 LCD display will alternate between status readouts similar to the following:
Shutdown
To shutdown the Cisco Digital Media Encoder 2000, briefly press the Power button on the front
panel.
The Cisco Digital Media Encoder 2000 LCD readout will display the following messages:
After a few seconds, the Cisco Digital Media Encoder 2000 will power off.
Caution: Allow the Cisco Digital Media Encoder 2000 to power down normally. If you force the
system to shutdown improperly, data can be corrupted. If so, the next time the system is started it
can take several minutes to complete startup.
