Removing heat sink assembly
About this task
Heat sink assembly consists of heat sink and the system fan.
Steps
1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
2. Remove the base cover.
3. Disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the system board.
4. To remove the heat sink assembly:
NOTE: To identify the number of screws, see screw list.
a. Remove the M2 x 5 screws (6) that secure the heat sink assembly to the system board [2].
NOTE: Remove the screws in order of the callout numbers [1, 2, 3, 4] as printed on the heat sink assembly.
b. Lift the heat sink assembly from the system board [3].
c. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board [1].
