Applying Command Changes
Any changes made to the configuration command registers through AT commands will not take
effect until the changes are applied. For example, sending the BD command to change the baud
rate will not change the actual baud rate until changes are applied. You can apply changes in
one of the following ways:
• The AC (Apply Changes) command is issued
• AT command mode is exited
To Exit AT Command Mode:
1 Send the ATCN (Exit Command Mode) command (followed by a carriage return).
2 If no valid AT Commands are received within the time specified by the CT (Command Mode
Timeout) Command, the RF module automatically returns to Idle Mode.
Note: For an example of programming the RF module using AT Commands and descriptions
of each configurable parameter, refer to the command reference tables chapter.
Sleep Mode
Sleep modes allow the RF module to enter states of low power consumption when not in use.
The XBee RF Modules support both pin sleep (sleep mode entered on pin transition) and cyclic
sleep (module sleeps for a fixed time). The XBee DigiMesh modules support a network
synchronized sleep to conserve power. XBee sleep modes are discussed in detail in XBee
DigiMesh 2.4 Sleep Modes.
