The Power-Up Routine
When power is applied to the HP 16500C Logic Analysis System mainframe, a series
of tasks called the power-up routine is performed to initialize and to verify operation
of the mainframe. The mainframe monitor reports the progress and status of the
power-up routine. Each of the tasks of the power-up routine is added to the monitor
display as the task is being performed.
The following figure shows all of the tasks and possible status reporting fields that
can be displayed on the monitor.
The Power-Up Screen
Model Number and ROM Version
The field in the upper right corner of the display shows the mainframe model number and the
version of ROM installed on the CPU board. The ROM version number is important because
the ROM code must be compatible with the version of the operating system which is stored on
the hard disk drive. The ROM and operating system versions are compatible when the
operating system version number is the same as or higher than the ROM version number.
"*"
The "*" next to the ROM version number indicates that one of the disk drives is spinning.
