Additional considerations are:
Pulse Output is set to the active level during measurementof any calibration standard.

set

inactiv
e
lev
el
during
the
sw
eep retrace.
Pulse

set
to
the
active
lev
el
for
less
than
30
microseconds
immediately
prior
to
the beginning of the sw
eep for the automatic p erio dic IF calibration sequence.
Pulse Output remains at the inactiv
e lev
el under all conditions when External T
riggering is
selected.
The automatic perio dic IF calibration sequence is transparen
t to the operator except for the
less than 30 microsecond pulse output immediately prior to the b eginning of a sweep. Tothe
operator, the IF calibration sequence will appear to o ccur at random times, more frequently
just
after
the
HP
8510
is
turned
on, then
less
often
as
the
system
temp
erature
stabilizes.
