Configuration settings for thermocouple temperature measurements:
• Thermocouple type: B, C, E, J, K, N, R, S, T
Default setting: K
• Measurement units: °C or °F
Default setting: °C
• Reference junction: Real or simulated
Default setting: Real
A thermocouple measurement is referenced to a known temperature. The reference junction can be real
or simulated.
For a real reference junction, the instrument performs a temperature measurement on a built-in cold
junction compensator and uses that reading as the reference point for subsequent thermocouple
measurements.
For a simulated reference junction, you enter a temperature reading to use as the reference
temperature. An ice bath is typically used in determining a simulated reference junction.
