31.4 List of Exposure Parameters (Reference)
The list of exposure values in Table 31.4.1 is for reference only. The presentation of an image depends on the requirements
of the physician. Exposure parameters must be adjusted for optimal results based on body habitus, exposure geometrics,
etc.

NOTE: SID (Source Image Distance) affects the source to skin distance. Changing the source to skin distance will
change the radiation dose to the patient. A shorter distance with the same loading factors will increase the dose
to the patient.
NOTE: When using dynamic mode, a lower target ms range of 4-8 ms for the Sedecal Generator, and 4-10 ms for
the CPI generator, is required. 4-6 ms is the ideal range.
NOTE (Sedecal generators only): If an AEC technique is used and the exposure values or the positioning
of the patient are incorrect, then an extremely short exposure, less than 1ms, will result. The reported post
parameters will be not accurate. This can be recognized by the post parameters reporting the back up
timer is milliseconds (ms), while no back up timer error is displayed.
This only has inuence on the generator post parameters and the not EI or DAP values which will display
correctly to the exposure.
Example: Direct exposure of one of the selected AEC chambers with a beam energy setting above 100kV
or an AEC kV/ma exposure setting signicantly higher than advised or recognized by international stan-
dards can result in exposures less than one millisecond.
