Oil Clearance of Camshaft Journal
1. Measure the camshaft journal D.D. with an outside
micrometer.
2. Measure the cylinder block bore I.D. for camshaft with an
inside micrometer, and calculate
the oil clearance.

3. If the oil clearance exceeds the allowable limit. replace the
camshaft.

Camshaft Alignment
1. Support the camshaft with V-blocks on the surface plate and
set a dial
indicator with its tip on the intermediate journal at
right angle.
2. Rotate the camshaft on the V-blocks and measure the circle
runout.
3. If the circle runout exceeds the allowable limit, replace the
camshaft.

Intake and Exhaust Cam Heights
1. Measure the height of the cam at its highest point with an
outside micrometer.
1. If the measurement is less than the allowable limit, replace
the camshaft.
