CHECKING AND ADJUSTING
(1) Spark Plug and High Tension Cord
; Spark Test
A CAUTION
•
Never hold the spark plug cap with wet hands while
performing this test.
• Make sure
that no fuel has been spilled on the engine.
• To avoid fire hazards, do not allow sparks near the plug
hole.
1. Remove the spark plug from engine, and attach it to thE::
spark plug cap.
2. Contact a jumper lead from the negative (-) electrode of
spark plug to the engine body (not to painted or resin parts).
3. Disconnect the 1 P connector from the fuel cut off solenoid.
4. Turn a crank by cell starter, and check to see if the plug
sparks.
5. If the plug does not spark. check the spark plug, ignition coil
and distributor.

DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING
(1) Carburetor
Disassembling Carburetor
L Loosen the drain screw (6), and drain fuel in the float
chamber.
2. Remove the fuel cut off solenoid (9).
3. Unscrew the mounting screw (7), and remove the plate (17),
dip (16) and float chamber (14).
4. Unscrew the set screw (4), and remove the float pin (3), float
(13) and needle valve (1).
5. Unscrew the main jet (12). and remove the main nozzle (11).
(When reassembling)
• Clean the parts and air passages inside
the carburetor body
with compressed air before reassembling the parts .
• Take care
not to damage the O-ring (8) on the fuel cut off
solenoid.
